The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

In conjunction with the continuation of property looting by the regime forces and their allies south Damascus, citizens are arrested in the area

Damascus province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored raids and arrests operations by the regime forces, during the past 24 hours in the southern part of the capital Damascus, where the regime forces arrested several people in Yarmouk Camp and al-Hajar al-Aswad –of which they took full control 3 days ago– and they took them to an unknown destination until the moment, while the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them continues their stealing and looting activities of the civilian houses in Yarmouk Camp –the capital of the Palestinian dispersion– and al-Hajar al-Aswad, for the third consecutive day, do not care for the denounce and resentment by people of those areas, who have been forced to move out of their homes against the backdrop of the military operations that lasted for a month since the 19th of  April 2018.

The Syrian Observatory published on the 22nd of May that the wave of anger and resentment is still prevailing the residents of the neighborhoods of Yarmouk Camp, al-Tadamon and al-Hajar al-Aswad, of who were displaced from their homes as a result of military operations which lasted for a full month after it started on the 19th of April 2018, where this wave of anger and resentment comes because of the continued thefts and looting houses by the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them in the abovementioned areas, and stealing their contents, and the SOHR monitored that vehicles of the regime forces and their allies transferring the contents of the houses and property of the citizens of vehicles, devices, furniture and other contents to destinations out of the neighborhoods used to be controlled by the organization, and the Syrian Observatory published yesterday that, a widespread resentment prevails the residents of Yarmouk Camp, al-Tadamon, al-Kadam and al-Hajar al-Aswad, who were displaced from their homes as a result of heavy aerial and ground bombardment and military operations, because members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them started stealing and looting houses, loading them aboard vehicles and transporting them to destinations outside the southern neighborhoods of the capital, where intersected sources confirmed that tens of cars and bicycles have been monitored carrying members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them; departing loaded with contents of houses from the neighborhoods that used to be controlled by the “Islamic State” organization before its withdrawal from southern Damascus today, Monday, the 21st of May 2018, amid demands to stop the “looting” process which has been repeated in any area to which the regime forces enter with their allies, without moving a muscle by the regime to stop them.

This resentment of theft was accompanied by widespread resentment by the supporters of the regime and its loyalists, because of repeating the same scenario that happened to the abducted people of the Eastern Ghouta, where during its control of the southern neighborhoods of Damascus, the “Islamic State” organization abducted and captured people of the supporters and loyalists of the regime but their fate is still unclear, the people accused the regime forces and their allies of deliberately ignoring the fate of their relatives of the captives and abductees by the “Islamic State” organization, in order to achieve a “triumph”, holding the regime responsible for the fate of their children, whose parents fear that that the organization would transfer some prisoners with them to the Syrian Desert or executing them before it left south of Damascus today, Monday, the 21st of May 2018, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities; finishing the sweep operations just before this afternoon at Yarmouk Camp -the capital of the Palestinian dispersion- and al-Tadamon neighbourhood, imposing their full control over the south of Damascus after the withdrawal of members of the “Islamic State” organization and their families, according to a secret agreement that took place between the regime and organization, where about 1600 members of the “Islamic State” organization have gotten out of Yarmouk Camp and al-Tadamon towards the Syrian Desert under a full Russian supervision, and with this control, the regime forces and their allies have recovered Damascus province and its countryside (Rif Dimashq) completely, except for al-Tanf area which is under the control of the International Coalition Forces at the Syrian – Iraqi border.

The Eastern Ghouta had lived a scene similar to the south of Damascus, about looting the property of displaced citizens in the cities and towns which have been controlled by the regime, in addition to resentment over the unknown fate of thousands of prisoners, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published weeks ago that resentment among the civilians and families of the abductees captured by Jaysh Al-Islam, who were abducted in late 2013 during an attack by Jaysh Al-Islam and other factions including ISIS on Adra Al-Ommaliyyah area located east of the eastern Ghouta of Damascus and managed to capture about 9 thousand persons. Jaysh Al-Islam took about 3500 abductees of them. The abductees were taken to prisons of Jaysh Al-Islam in Douma, which is the main stronghold of Jaysh Al-Islam in Syrian. In the details obtained by the SOHR, the families were angry at the regime authorities after the media of the regime and its allies announced the full evacuation of abductees, whose numbers haven’t exceeded 200 persons, from the prisons of Jaysh Al-Islam and that the issue of the abductees and captures in Douma has completely ended after the “full evacuation of abductees”, which prompted the families to demand for clarification about the fate of more than 3000 persons didn’t get out and their fate is still unknown, and the sources confirmed then to the Observatory that the people accused the regime authorities of abandoning their sons in return for the speeding up of the displacement of fighters of Jaysh Al-Islam and their families and civilians refusing the agreement between Jaysh al-Islam on one hand and the Russians and representatives of the regime forces on the other on the 8th of April 2018. Abductees told the SOHR sources that thousands of abductees were transferred to prisons of Jaysh Al-Islam and distributed to different prisons by Jaysh Al-Islam, noting that tens of the abductees were released in previous deals, while some others remained captured in the prisons of Jaysh Al-Islam until the mid of 2017. The families are angry because the regime ended the issue of the release in return for speeding up the evacuation of Jaysh al-Islam and their families and civilians refusing the agreement from Douma. The families said that the regime had earlier abandoned captured members of the regime in return for releasing the abductees of Hezbollah and Iranians and Afghani members of the regime’s allied militiamen captured by the factions.
