The regime forces continue to remove security checkpoints inside the capital Damascus, after being able with Russian support to secure it and its surroundings through displacement agreements after military operations

Damascus province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Security tightening and checkpoints continue to decrease within the capital Damascus, days after the regime forces were able to secure the capital Damascus and regain full control of its surroundings with Russian support, where the Syrian Observatory monitored the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them emptying more checkpoints and withdrawing them, and permanently removing them in order to decrease the security traffic in the middle of the capital, where it rose to 17 at least, the number of checkpoints removed during the last 72 hours, and the Syrian Observatory published yesterday, Wednesday, that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that the regime forces removed checkpoints from the center of the capital Damascus, and intersected sources confirmed that members of the regime forces have removed checkpoints from several areas in the capital Damascus, where the past 48 ours, witnessed the removal of some checkpoints in the center of the capital Damascus, linking the capital’s neighborhoods, by bulldozers, vehicles and members of the regime, and they reached about 15 checkpoints that were completely removed, where the process of decreasing the number of the checkpoints came after completing the military operations in the south of the capital, its vicinity and countryside, and it is expected that the coming days will witness the removal of more checkpoints in the center of Damascus and its outskirts.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 22nd of May 2018, that the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities; finishing the sweep operations in Yarmouk Camp -the capital of the Palestinian dispersion- and al-Tadamon neighbourhood, imposing their full control over the south of Damascus after the withdrawal of members of the “Islamic State” organization and their families, according to a secret agreement that took place between the regime and organization, where about 1600 members of the “Islamic State” organization have gotten out of Yarmouk Camp and al-Tadamon towards the Syrian Desert under a full Russian supervision, and with this control, the regime forces and their allies have recovered Damascus province and its countryside (Rif Dimashq) completely, except for al-Tanf area which is under the control of the International Coalition Forces at the Syrian – Iraqi border.
