About 240 raids, barrel bombs, and hundreds of shells target Daraa city and its countryside today, raising number of internally displaced people to about 70000 in the province

Daraa Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Daraa Province witnesses the continued escalation of aerial and ground bombardments by the regime forces and their allies the Russian forces, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the rise of airstrikes on Daraa city and its countryside to about 240 raids and barrel bombs, which targeted areas in Daraa al-Balad in Daraa city and villages and towns of al-Sora, al-Hrak, Eastern Kark, Bosr al-Sham, Eastern al-Gharya, Kahil, Ma’araba, Jamrin, Rakham and other areas in the eastern countryside of Daraa, and the towns of Abtaa and Dael in the northern countryside of Daraa, Nawa city in the northwest of Daraa, and other areas in al-Jidur area, amid artillery and missile shelling by hundreds of missile and artillery shells, which targeted areas of al-Hrak, al-Naemeh, Daraa al-Balad in Daraa city, Gharaz area, Om al-Mayathen, and Tal Hamad area, which caused substantial material damage and destruction in the Infrastructure and citizens’ property in addition to the casualties.

This violent bombardment have raised the displacement movement within Daraa Province, where the number of displaced people rose to about 70000 displaced people from their cities, towns, and villages as a result of this violent bombardment which has been targeting the province since the 19th of June of 2018, where some of them have displaced to areas controlled by the regime forces and to shelter centers opened yesterday by the authorities of the regime in their controlled areas in the countryside of Daraa, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published about 24 hours ago that the regime forces and after closing the roads in the face of the displaced people towards their controlled areas; have opened 2 main crossings towards their controlled areas, one of which is the Abu Kasir crossing near Dael area and the second one is Kafr Shams crossing in the northwestern countryside; for the displaced people coming from the countryside of Daraa and wish to enter areas controlled by the regime forces away of the artillery, missile, and aerial bombardment that follow them, where the regime forces opened 3 shelters for the displaced people in the towns of Izra’a, Jbab and Qerfah.

While the violent clashes continue between the regime forces supported by gunmen loyal to them against the rebel and Islamic factions in areas in the eastern countryside of Daraa, where the regime forces were able to achieve more advancement in the area in the Brigade 52nd and Rakham town, while the factions are trying to regain control of what they have lost, and the clashes are accompanied by exchange of targeting by both parties in the clash areas, amid information about more casualties in their ranks, where the Syrian Observatory documented 93 civilian casualties including a woman and her son, as well as 12 woman and 17 children, and 2 members of the civil defense, they were killed by artillery and rocket shelling, and bombardment by the Russian and regime’s warplanes and helicopters on the countryside of Daraa.

The Syrian Observatory published yesterday night that it rose to 22 at least, the number of members of the regime forces and their allies who were killed in detonating 2 booby trapped vehicles targeted them in Nahte town, raising to 58 at least, the number of members of the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them including officers, of who were killed in the shelling and clashes during the same period, in Daraa countryside, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also documented that the number of factions’ fighters who have been killed in the aerial and ground shelling and violent clashes, since the 19th of June 2018.
