Hmeimim Military Airbase is subjected to the 6th attack by drones in the first week of July
Latakia Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: sounds of explosions were heard in the countryside of Latakia city, they were caused by targeting by the antiaircraft to objects believed to be drones while they were trying to target Hmeimim Military Airbase, which is taken by the Russian forces as their main base in Syria, where intersected sources confirmed that flying objects were targeted in the skies of Jableh area and the skies of the area of the military airbase, as a part of repeated operations to target Hmeimim Airbase and attempts to target it in the same way, which caused a continuous state of alertness by the Russian forces and the regime forces in the area, and this is the 6th attack in a week, where 6 similar attacks have targeted Hmeimim Military Airbase since the 1st of July 2018.
The targeting by drones to military positions of the Russian forces, or the regime-held areas, was not the first of kind in Syria, as several Syrian areas witnessed previous targeting by drones, most prominent of which is the targeting which Al-Raqqah city and its countryside as well as Deir Ezzor witnessed during 2017, carried out by drones launched by the organization to target the positions of the International Coalition forces of the Syria Democratic Forces during “Euphrates Wrath” Operation which finished with controlling Al-Raqqah city which used to be the stronghold of the organization in Syria, in addition to the targeting which hit the positions of the Russian forces and the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them in Deir Ezzor city and its countryside, where a drone made by ISIS targeted by 2 bombs at least, military supplies, armored vehicles and ammunition depots in the stadium at Damascus – Deir Ezzor International Road, at dawn of the 8th of October 2017, which caused great explosions and the break of fires in the stadium, and the media of the regime falsified the aerial targeting to the regime forces and their military supplies and depots in Deir Ezzor Stadium south of the city, and claimed that the organization targeted its vehicles and depots it owned, before it withdraw from the stadium they specified that it is located between Al-Ommal and the Old airport neighborhoods in Deir Ezzor city, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published at that time, that successive explosions rocked Deir Ezzor city, which is witnessing fighting between the regime forces and gunmen loyal to them against the “Islamic State” organization, before the regime forces took the control of the city.
