Number of casualties killed by airstrikes east of Euphrates near the Iraq border rises to 54 at least
Deir Ezzor Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the rise of number of casualties in the bombardment that took place yesterday night, Thursday, the 12th of July 2018, where it rose to 54 at least, the number of people who were killed in the bombardment by warplanes on a gathering at an ice factory in Mozan Junction area east of al-Susah town, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that among the total number of casualties there are 28 civilians, the majority of them are Iraqi nationals of who took refuge earlier in the Syrian territory, while the rest of casualties are members of the “Islamic State” organization of both Syrian and Iraqi nationalities, and the death toll is expected to rise because there are some people in critical situation.
The rise in number of casualties was accompanied by shelling by the Syria Democratic Forces on areas in the towns of al-Shafa, Sousah and Hajin, in the last enclave of the “Islamic State” Organization at the eastern bank of Euphrates river in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, in conjunction with clashes between the Syria Democratic Forces supported by the International Coalition against members of the “Islamic State” organization, in areas in the vicinity of Hajin area, in an attempt by the Coalition and SDF to advance in the area at the expense of the Organization which tries to repel the advancement of the factions in the area.
The Syrian Observatory published on the 9th of July 2018, that the area of Hajin and the last enclave of the “Islamic State” organization at the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, are witnessing overflights of the International Coalition’s warplanes in the skies of the area, after a series of aerial and artillery shelling by the Coalition which has targeted ISIS controlled areas since yesterday evening, Sunday the 8th of July 2018, as a part of the preparation by the Coalition and the Syria Democratic Forces for starting a wide-scale military operation against the organization in this area, and no information was reported yet about the fall of human losses as a result of the shelling which targeted ISIS besieged enclave at the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, while the Syrian Observatory published that explosions shook on the night of Saturday, the final enclave of the “Islamic State” organization in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that they were caused by shelling by Coalition warplanes on Hajin town and its surroundings, within the sporadic shelling that target the town by Coalition Forces, in preparation for military action being prepared, which is expected to be launched in the coming days to end the presence of the “Islamic State” organization in the east bank of Euphrates river, but no information about casualties so far, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored the fall of shells on places in al-Baghuz area which is located within the same enclave in the east bank of Euphrates river, intersected sources said that the source of the shells was the regime forces in the west bank of the river, and no information about casualties caused by the shelling.
