After the surprise attack on Khalkhala Airbase in al-Suwaidaa, the regime forces carry out raids in al-Lajat area in Daraa and arrest more than 120 people

Daraa Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the regime forces carrying out raids in al-Lajat area in the northeastern countryside of Daraa at the border with al-Suwaidaa province, and the intersected sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the arrests were made in the villages of Suwar, Asim, al-Roosiyyat, and Qiratah and other villages in the area, and during the last 24 hours the regime forces arrested more than 120 people. The search and raids came after a surprise attack by the “Islamic State” Organization targeted Khalkhala Airbase which is adjacent to al-Lajat area, where al-Lajat area used to be controlled by the “Islamic State” Organization before it was controlled by the factions and expel the organization out of the area, but after that the regime forces controlled it.

The Syrian Observatory published yesterday, Thursday, that the northwestern countryside of al-Suwaidaa is witnessing a cautious calm since about 36 hours, following the second sudden attack by the “Islamic State” organization in the countryside of province since the 25th of July 2018, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored an alert situation among the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them and the local gunmen; in the vicinity of al-Khalkhala Airbase, and other areas in the countryside of al-Suwaidaa and along the village line adjacent to areas of presence of the “Islamic State” Organization east and northeast of al-Suwaidaa province, in the wake of a sudden attack on al-Khalkhala Airbase by a group of the organization after midnight of yesterday, which targeted at the inside of the Airbase by several rocket shells which caused explosions that caused destruction and damage to military equipment inside the al-Khalkhala Airbase.

And with this second attack inside al-Suwaidaa Province, it rose to 265, the number of people who were killed as a result of the attacks by the “Islamic State” organization on Al-Suwaidaa city and its eastern and north-eastern countryside since the 25th of July 2018 until today the 2nd of August 2018, they are 142 civilians including 38 women and children, and 116 gunmen most of them are of the people of the countryside of Al-Suwaidaa province, who took up arms to rebel the violent and surprising attack of the organization, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also monitored that the number of casualties in the ranks of the “Islamic State” organization who were killed in this violent attack on Al-Suwaidaa countryside and Al-Suwaidaa city, and 7 members of the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them were killed in the attack on Khalkhala Airbase, and the Syrian Observatory published on the 27th of July 2018, that explosions rocked the far north-eastern countryside of Daraa, at the administrative border with Al-Suwaidaa province, at a distance of hundreds of meters from Khalkhala Military Airbase, caused by aerial targeting which hit places at the outskirts of Al-Lajat area, near the area of Al-Sorah Al-Saghira, at Damascus – Al-Suwaidaa Highway, and local sources confirmed to the SOHR that the strikes targeted members believed to be of the “Islamic State” organization, who were hiding in the area, which caused material damage.
