Arrests continue as raids and sweeps continue in al-Lajat and northwest of al-Suwaidaa, raising the number of detained people to more than 320 in more than 48 hours

Daraa Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the searches, sweeps, raids and arrests by the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them continue since the night of the 2nd of August 2018 in the northeastern countryside of Daraa, and in areas adjacent to it in the northwestern countryside of al-Suwaidaa near Khalkhala Airbase, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the regime forces carrying out more arrests, raising to more than 320, the number of people arrested from the villages of al-Lajat area on the pretext of searching for “cells of the Islamic State organization”, after the violent attack that targeted Khalkhala Airbase and being shelled and attacked by a group of members of the Organization, which killed at least 7 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.

And the northwestern countryside of al-Suwaidaa is witnessing a cautious calm since about 36 hours, following the second sudden attack by the “Islamic State” organization in the countryside of province since the 25th of July 2018, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored an alert situation among the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them and the local gunmen; in the vicinity of al-Khalkhala Airbase, and other areas in the countryside of al-Suwaidaa and along the village line adjacent to areas of presence of the “Islamic State” Organization east and northeast of al-Suwaidaa province, in the wake of a sudden attack on al-Khalkhala Airbase by a group of the organization after midnight of yesterday, which targeted at the inside of the Airbase by several rocket shells which caused explosions that caused destruction and damage to military equipment inside the al-Khalkhala Airbase.

And with this second attack inside al-Suwaidaa Province, it rose to 265, the number of people who were killed as a result of the attacks by the “Islamic State” organization on Al-Suwaidaa city and its eastern and north-eastern countryside since the 25th of July 2018 until today the 2nd of August 2018, they are 142 civilians including 38 women and children, and 116 gunmen most of them are of the people of the countryside of Al-Suwaidaa province, who took up arms to rebel the violent and surprising attack of the organization, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also monitored that the number of casualties in the ranks of the “Islamic State” organization who were killed in this violent attack on Al-Suwaidaa countryside and Al-Suwaidaa city, and 7 members of the regime forces and the militiamen loyal to them were killed in the attack on Khalkhala Airbase.
