The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported, on Saturday, that the Syrian regime forces continue to recruit youths in the areas of Damascus and Rif Dimashq, to serve within the army ranks.

SOHR revealed that the Syrian army has recruited more than 600 young people from several areas in the capital, Damascus, and Rif Dimashq during the last 20 days, while pointed out that over a quarter of them were taken to al-Driej barracks from Eastern Ghouta area.

A number of the recruited youths were sent to the areas of service in Douma, Mesraba, and al-Marj area, where they were assembled this morning, and were transferred by buses to al-Driej area to attend training courses.

Furthermore, SOHR explained that the total number of youths that were recruited by the Syrian army in Damascus and Rif Dimashq rose to about 19000 persons, since April 2018.

It is noteworthy that the recruited youths are citizens of the areas that witnessed demographic change through displacing those who refused the agreement made between the factions and regime, south of the capital Damascus, cities and towns of Eastern Ghouta, south of Rif Dimashq, east of al-Qalamoun, Zabadani, Wadi Barada, Madaya, west of Rif Dimashq and al-Tal area in Rif Dimashq.

The recruitment process was suggested by the Russian Forces, while fears rise among officers of the regime forces that Russia is aiming to gain the loyalty of the recruited persons.
