The Syrian Observatory For Human Rights

As part of expanding its military bases and airports, the International Coalition bring more equipment and machinery and raises to 1900, the number of trucks entered Syria since the beginning of August 2018

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the entry of more supply batches to the forces of the International Coalition inside the Syrian territory in the eastern Euphrates area, where the area witnessed the entry of more than 150 trucks carrying logistic equipment, armored vehicles, and machinery and headed toward areas of presence of the International Coalition within the Syria Democratic Forces’ controlled areas, raising to 1900, the number of trucks that have entered the east of Euphrates since the beginning of August 2018, and the introduction of this huge quantity of equipment, armored vehicles, and weapons comes as part of expanding the military bases and airports by International Coalition in the areas of al-Hasakah, Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah, and the countryside of Aleppo, to strengthen, enhance and fortify them.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 1st of September 2018 that  the International Coalition has almost completed its 4th year of its participation in military operations on the Syrian territory, which began on the 23rd of September 2014, which was focused on the Syria Democratic Forces and before it the YPG, which is the main pillars of these Forces, along with some of the Syrian opposition factions which received material, logistical, and military support from the International Coalition, during their war against the “Islamic State” Organization, which is now controls about 1.6% of the Syrian geographical area, while the International Coalition Forces have one contact area east of Euphrates with ISIS enclave, which consists of the towns of Hajin, al-Shafa, al-Susah, al-Baghuz and the areas between these towns on the east bank of Euphrates River in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has been monitoring since the second half of 2018, the International Coalition led by the United States of America increasing its presence in the whole area east of Euphrates, and the reinforcement of this presence came by various means monitored by the Syrian Observatory, where the reliable sources confirmed to the Observatory that the Coalition has established at least 18 different bases in areas east of Euphrates and in Manbij area in the northeastern countryside of Aleppo at the west bank of the river including 6 major bases, these bases are distributed in the area of Ayn al-Arab (Kobani), Khrab Ishak, and Manbij in Aleppo Province, and Ein Issa, al-Raqqah, and al-Tabaqa in al-Raqqah Province, al-Shaddadi, al-Hool, Tal Tamr, Tal Baidar and Rmaylan in al-Hasaka Province, and al-Omar oilfield and al-Bahra in the countryside of Deir Ezzor. The major bases include airports for the landing and takeoff of planes, and some of them were built in the form of small bases, also the sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the bases are protected continuously through the aerial surveillance of warplanes in the sky area of the base, and through cars roaming the perimeter of the bases as well as fixed checkpoints scattered around the perimeter of these bases and airports, to protect them from any attacks Individually or collectively by the “Islamic State” organization or any other cells that seek to target the area, while sources told the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that forces of the International Coalition through tehri committees on the ground in the east of Euphrates; are carrying out periodic meetings with the aim of developing institutions located in the east of Euphrates, where these committees provide logistical support, financial support, and equipment for the committees that requests their specific assistance, also these committees supervise the process of managing affairs of many service and administrative parties in an undeclared manner, and provide their contributions in developing the service management and organizing the work of the institutions supervising eastern areas of Euphrates, also the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the entry of more than 1450 trucks to the SDF-held areas since the beginning of August 2018, and the Syrian Observatory published on Tuesday evening, the 28th of August 2018, that a new convoy of tens of trucks, has entered the Syrian territory in the past few hours, heading towards Al-Shaddadi Military Airbase, established by the International Coalition’s Forces, and the trucks carried military and logistic equipment, building substances and other materials needed to enlarge Al-Shaddadi Airbase, which is located in the southern sector of Al-Hasakah countryside, along with processes to enlarge other military base in Tal Tamr in the northern countryside of Al-Hasakah, and in the countryside of Ayn Al-Arab (Kobani), the Syrian Observatory also published on the 25th of August 2018, that the International Coalition continued to strengthen its presence in the provinces of Deir Ezzor, Al-Raqqah, Al-Hasakah and Aleppo, in the east of the Euphrates River, where the Syrian Observatory monitored the continued operations by the forces of the International Coalition to enlarge their military bases especially in both Al-Hasakah and Ayn Al-Arab (Kobani), in conjunction with bringing shipments of equipment and weapons to its several bases in the east of the Euphrates, and the SOHR learned that the International Coalition’s forces tend to enlarge the military bases and airbases, also the Syrian Observatory received information from reliable sources, reporting that the International Coalition’s forces sat up radars in the airbase of Ayn Al-Arab (Kobani), as well as information about distributing radars to other military sites in the east of the Euphrates River, within their fortifications of their areas of presence in the Syrian interior, where the Syria Democratic Forces are in control of an area of about 53,000 square km with a percentage of 28.6% of the Syrian area.
