Syrian Warplanes Strike Near Turkey’s Military Post in Idlib

Warplanes belonging to the Syrian army have conducted airstrikes near Turkey’s observation point in Shir Maghar area in Idlib, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) announced.

Images allegedly showing the aftermath of the airstrike has also been circulated on social media. Accounts close to the Syrian opposition said that around 15 warplanes of Syria and Russia were seen above Ghab Plains. It was followed by a heavy bombardment, they said.

Reuters reported that Turkey’s observation post and soldiers were not affected by airstrikes, quoting a high-level security source from Ankara.

A convoy belonged to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) was forced to stop because of an airstrike when it was heading to the observation post in Morek on August 19.

After the advances of the Syrian Army, Turkey’s military post in Morek is now encircled by the Syrian army and its allies.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Vladimir Putin in Moscow yesterday (August 27) to discuss the developments in Idlib.
