Unidentified gunmen attack the building of Ba’ath Party in Al-Suwaidaa city south of Syria

Al-Suwaidaa Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: unidentified gunmen opened fire on the building of Ba’ath Party branch in Al-Suwaidaa city center, where crossfire took place between the attackers and the guards of the building, without information about casualties.

And the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 1st of September 2019, that unidentified gunmen kidnapped a 1st Lieutenant officer of the Syrian regime’s army, -who is from Tartous province- in Shahba city north of al-Suwaidaa city, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory: the gunmen who kidnapped the officer demanded a ransom of 25 million Syrian pond in exchange for his release, and the Syrian Observatory published on the 21st of August 2019 that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the body of a man from al-Dumayr city was found dead and dumped in al-Suwaidaa countryside, where he was abducted about 6 months ago by unknown gunmen in Om al-Zaytoun area in al-Suwaidaa countryside, and the kidnappers demanded his relatives to pay a ransom back then, and the Syrian Observatory published on the 16th of August 2019 that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that the body of an unidentified person so far; was found between Salim village and Rimat Hazim in the northern countryside of Al-Suwaidaa, where marks of torture were seen on the body, and this comes in the light of the widespread security chaos throughout al-Suwaidaa province, and the Syrian Observatory published on the 15th of August 2019 that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned that unidentified gunmen attacked vehicles affiliated to what is known as “Sheikh Al-Karama Forces” today at noon, Wednesday the 14th of August 2019, in the south of Al-Suwaidaa province on the road between the cities of Al-Suwaidaa and Salkhad, where they targeted the vehicles by gunfire, without information about casualties so far, and this incident comes as a part of the security chaos in Al-Suwaidaa where the regime forces try to drag the area through active cells and their Shabiha, to force the people of Al-Suwaidaa engage in fighting within the ranks of the Syrian regime, and the SOHR published on the 25th of May 2019, that “Sheikh al-Karama Forces”, who include local gunmen from al-Suwaidaa and its countryside loyal to the regime forces; executed 3 people on Saturday, the 25th of May 2019, on charges of “assassinating one of the leaders of Sheikh al-Karama Forces” in Salkhad town earlier this month, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory: the people who carried out this assassination are from the same faction and from the same group led by the leader, who was assassinated on the 3rd of May 2019, where he was shot in Salkhad town in al-Suwaidaa countryside, where the executors were arrested several days ago then they were executed today Saturday.

And the SOHR published on the 3rd of July 2019, that it documented the death of 5 citizens at least and the injury of 13 others including critical cases, as a result of the explosion of a motorcycle with a suicidal bomber believed to be of the “Islamic State” organization on it, today evening in the area of Qanawat in the north-east of Al-Suwaidaa city in the Syrian South, and the SOHR published on the 18th of June 2019, that al-Suwaidaa city is witnessing constant tension over the kidnapping of a civil activist who opposes the Syrian regime, where regime’s intelligence was accused of by civil and military parties in the city of arresting him, after which the Syrian Observatory monitored a protest carried out by tens on Tuesday in front of the provincial building in al-Suwaidaa city, and the protesters raised banners some of which say: “freedom for the forcibly detained people” and “freedom for the prisoners of conscience” and “freedom for the peaceful activist Muhannad Shab al-Din” and “Muhannad is not a criminal, a terrorist, or a drug dealer to end up in jail,” while the kidnapped activist posted on his personal account at social media sites a pathos post about the guard of the Syrian Revolutionary, Abdelbaset al-Sarout, who was killed in clashes at the northwest of Hama, in addition to accusing regime’s intelligence of fabricating attacks on the security detachments in al-Suwaidaa; in order to create a strife between the local factions in the city, and in the same context, local gunmen kidnapped a colonel and a Major at the regime forces on the highway of Damascus – Al-Suwaidaa near Salkhad Junction on Monday evening, and the Syrian Observatory published yesterday that against the backdrop of the abduction of an opposition activist from al-Suwaidaa city, the Syrian Observatory monitored a new tension in al-Suwaidaa city after midnight, where local armed pro-regime gunmen targeted the military intelligence building in the middle of the city with machine guns, which injured at least 5 of the local members and the regime forces, and this comes against the backdrop of accusations against the regime forces of kidnapping a civil activist, also the local factions have detained at least 10 members of the regime forces in the city, in an attempt to press the regime forces to release the activist, and the Syrian Observatory published yesterday that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored that unidentified gunmen have kidnapped anti-Syrian-regime activist in Al-Suwaidaa city south of Syria, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights; unidentified gunmen kidnapped an opposition activist from the place where he works in Al-Suwaidaa city and took him to unknown destination, it is noteworthy that the kidnapped activist had participated in most of the anti-regime peaceful activities in Al-Suwaidaa province, and the Syrian Observatory published on the 14th of June 2019, that about 15 members of the 15th Division of the regime’s army in Al-Suwaidaa province, have escaped, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights; the command of the 15th Division issued surprising orders to transfer the sons of Al-Suwaidaa specifically, to the battle fronts with the “Islamic State” organization in the area of Tlul Al-Safa in the northern countryside of Al-Suwaidaa, to take the place of 600 members of the regime forces who were taken recently to the battle fronts in both Hama and Idlib countryside, and as a result, about 15 members of the people of Al-Suwaidaa escaped towards the province in protest against the orders they considered racial.
