Popular outrage over increasing the medical checkups fees by “Medical Association of Al Jazeera region” in north and north-east of Syria

Activists told The Syrian Observatory that a popular discontent took place within “self-administration” controlled areas north and north-east of Syria, after increasing the medical checkups fees there by a decision of the “Medical Association of Al Jazeera region”.
SOHR obtained a copy of the recent decision contains a list of new medical checkups fees: “due to high living costs and the higher exchange rate of the U.S. dollar, and after all consumables prices rose in the region as a result of strengthening U.S. dollar, and in order to ensure the quality of medical work, the border of ‘Medical Association of Al Jazeera region’ decided the following:
– Adjusting the medical checkups fees in clinics to (4,000) Syrian pounds and for all specialties except ophthalmology.
– Adjusting the medical checkups fees in ophthalmologist clinics, which covered all the eye examinations, to (5,000) Syrian pounds.
– Adjusting the medical examination fee in the hospital to (5000) Syrian pounds.
– Adjusting the daily medical supervision fee in the hospital to (6,000) Syrian pounds.
