New Turkish military column enters Syria as Maar Hattat’s observation post being encircled

SOHR sources reported seeing a Turkish military column of nearly 30 vehicles including more than 12 armored vehicles carrying soldiers and logistical supplies, crossing Kafr Lusin crossing in the north of Idlib towards the province’s south.

Sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that the Turkish forces are installing a new observation post whose location was explored two months ago. Meanwhile, the Turkish observation post in Maar Hattat has been encircled by the regime forces.

On January 22, SOHR activists monitored the entry of a column of eight Turkish armored vehicles carrying soldiers, accompanied by a protection column of the Turkish-backed factions via Kafr Luseen crossing.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the column split into two parts, one headed towards Aleppo countryside and the other headed to Idlib countryside within the “de-escalation” area where Turkish points are located.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored on the 14th of January 2020 that a new Turkish military column of 15 military vehicles escorted by vehicles affiliated to their loyal factions, entered the Syrian territory via Kafr Lusin crossing on the border with Iskenderun, north of Idlib.

The column headed to the Turkish observation posts within the “de-escalation” zone.
