Civilians stand in endless lines to obtain a gas cylinder in Al-Hasakeh province and the Energy Authority unable to secure it

Civilians in the “self-administration” areas of northern and eastern Syria are facing great difficulties in obtaining a domestic cooking gas cylinder.

The Energy Authority tries to secure it for people from Al-Suwaydiyah’s cylinder filling center then distribute it to cities, towns and villages.

According Syrian Observatory sources, people in Al-Qamishli wait for hours in endless lines to obtain a single cooking gas cylinder.

On the other hand, gas cylinders are available on the black market at high prices, with a price of 5,000 Syrian pounds, while accredited vendors sell it at 2,600 liras per cylinder.

One of the things that bothers people is the leaking oil from the pipes, in terms of the risk of emissions from combustion and damage that the fires might cause to facilities if spread to nearby areas, especially with rising temperatures.

People are complaining in the areas of Tal Hamis where oil pipelines leak frequently.

Residents are demanding Energy Authority of the “self-administration” a solution to prevent oil leakage from the pipelines and maintain it.

The Energy Authority in Al-Jazeera region has built sand barriers around the leak site.
