Inhumane retaliatory and vengeful practices of regime soldiers expose their “state of mind” and sick behaviors

The systematic retaliatory practices of the regime forces reveal clearly the nature of the regime’s mindset and its soldiers’ behaviors throughout the brutal conflict. Regime soldiers have been committing crimes that are difficult for humanity to comprehend, and showing the world the true ugly side of Syria’s bloody conflict. This war proves that it is a war against the regime and its sick and brutal practices and oppressive apparatuses. The Syrian regime has all along been promoting that this war is a sectarianism and terrorism, whereas the truth is that this war started as a revolution and rejection of an oppressive, brutal and corrupt regime by the people of Syria.

The Syrian Observatory has obtained a video footage of a regime soldier, a resident of Hish town in rural Idlib, showing the soldier swearing at his father and relatives using obscene expletives, and tearing up his father’s university certificate, which he found it in his home while breaking and destroying the house contents.

On February 17, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored “regime Shabiha” in Hayyan town exhuming and defiling bodies at cemeteries and desecrating and destroying the graves and the remains of the martyrs of the Syrian revolution, ‘exacting’ revenge on opponents of the Syrian regime, and humiliating their displaced relatives.

This comes against the backdrop of the Syrian regime repeatedly claiming to protect civilians and opening humanitarian corridors to allow people in; yet, these actions are a clear message that opponents of the Syrian regime and their families are not accepted in their areas and are still wanted whether alive or dead.

Furthermore, SOHR obtained a video footage showing tens of regime thugs or “Shabihas” desecrating cemeteries and digging bodies out. Another video footage shows a group of “Shabihas” in Aleppo neighborhoods insulting the opposition and holy places.

On February 9, the Syrian Observatory obtained a video footage showing violations of the so-called “Shabihas” of regime forces in areas regime forces recently captured in Idlib countryside. The video shows a soldier of the “Homeland Army” talking scornfully and contemptuously to the remains of a dead body after being exhumed from a grave, then started to laugh mockingly with two other soldiers.

SOHR sources have reported that several members of regime’s “Shabihas” have destroyed and desecrated graves, exhumed tombs, and insulted the remains of people opposed to the Syrian regime, without showing respect or remorse.

SOHR obtained a video showing several regime loyalists bragging about desecrating cemeteries and destroying tombstones.

Over the past few days, regime loyalists’ violations continued against the regime opponents. Activists told SOHR that one of regime loyalists burned his uncle’s house down in Maarrat al-Nu’man after regime forces captured the town, under the pretext that the uncle opposed the regime.

On February 21, SOHR monitored several demonstrations in several areas of Aleppo and Idlib denouncing Russian and regime military operations, as well as the international community’s silence. The demonstrations took place in Idlib city and other towns and villages in countryside, as well as Azaz and Al-Bab in Aleppo countryside. The demonstrators carried banners and placards with anti-regime slogans such as: “How can we live with vampires?  .. Al-Assad’s militiamen represent systematic murder and criminality. Desecrating of cemeteries and extracting remains of the dead is systematic revenge .. Russians and Al-Assad’s regime are enemies of humanity.”
