Al-Sweida security chaos: car theft and kidnapping increase in Al-Sweida

Al-Sweida governorate- Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that unidentified gunmen kidnapped a young man and stole another person’s car today. According to Observatory sources, the gunmen tried to kidnap a young man after they cut off the road near the village of “Sama Al-Hanidat”, meanwhile, a civilian was driving on the same road and tried to rescue him from the gang. However, the gunmen threatened them with weapons, robbing their cars and personal belongings, In addition to abducting the young man.

A number of civilians and local factions gathered at the junction of the village of Al-Tira, west of Al-Sweida amid heightened tension following the incident.

Car theft has turned into a phenomenon that worries civilians in Al-Sweida province.

On March 13, activist told SOHR that regime forces arrested a woman during while returning from Damascus to Al-Sweida without a clear charge.

Meanwhile, members of the local factions in Al-Sweida arrested four regime military police members at the roundabout of the Al-Basel at the entrance to the center of Al-Sweida governorate, and demanding those responsible for the arrest of the woman be held accountable.
