New blast hits Afrin after deadly fuel truck explosion which killed 40 people, including 11 children and six members of Turkish-backed factions

Aleppo Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in a car in al-Mahmoudiya neighbourhood in Afrin. No casualties have been reported yet.

On the other hand, the identity of a large number of those killed in Afrin’s blast is still identified, including charred and mutilated bodies, in addition to 11 children under the age of eighteen, all of whom are residents of Afrin and displaced from different Syrian provinces.

This terrorist explosion is the bloodiest since the Turkish occupation took control of Afrin area.

SOHR sources reported earlier that the death toll of the oil truck explosion has risen to at least 46 and is expected to rise further, as about 50 people sustained injuries and burns of various degrees of severity.

The blast took place only a few dozen meters away from the governor’s residence on Raju Street in the city. The explosion also caused massive damage as the site went up in flames.

The Syrian Observatory has monitored charred bodies of children and women, and nine members of Turkish-backed factions.

Meanwhile, Afrin hospital had appealed for blood donations, as a large number of wounded are in serious conditions.
