HTS executes Kurdish civilian in Idlib after being deported from Turkey

SOHR activists say that Hayaat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) executed yesterday a civilian from the village of Ma’amal Oshhagi in Mabata area, north of Aleppo.

According to Observatory sources, the young man was a refugee in Turkey, before being deported several months ago by the Turkish authorities during the forced deportation campaign of Syrians from Turkey. He was arrested by Tahrir Al-Sham after entering Syrian territory, and was imprisoned several months in their prisons before being sentenced to death for belonging to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and carrying out criminal acts with regime forces in Aleppo city, local sources confirmed.

The young man’s relatives had assigned a lawyer to get him out of prison by paying a ransom of $10,000.

On April 20, SOHR sources reported that HTS executed a young man from Dara Izza in north-western rural Aleppo, on “various charges”, including blasphemy, insulting the God, having illegal relationships with women, drug use and attempting to return to regime-controlled areas as well as his loyalty to the regime.

SOHR local sources have confirmed that the young man had no connections to the regime and he wasn’t supporting it, while same sources added that his mobile phone was full of blasphemy and insults to the leader of “Tahrir Al-Sham” Organization “Abu Mohammed al-Joulani”.

HTS demanded the young man’s relatives pay $30,000 for his release, but has received no response.

The young man was arrested by HTS at Bab al-Hawa crossing in northern Idlib after searching his mobile phone after being deported by Turkish authorities several months ago.
