HTS violations | HTS commits provocative acts, violating civilians’ privacy

SOHR activists say that HTS tightened measures on its security checkpoints, after public protests and demonstrations against HTS took place in several cities and towns in Idlib.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored a new proliferation of HTS checkpoints, along with conducting identity checks on passers-by.

HTS is committing provocative and humiliating acts in response to civilians’ demonstrations protesting the opening of the crossing with regime-controlled areas.

Moreover, HTS has set up a checkpoint on the road between the towns of Shalkh and Ma’arat al-Na’asan, although the area is empty, except for a few residents.

SOHR civil sources have confirmed that the purpose of this new checkpoint is to clamp down on those who remained in that area and refused HTS’ decision to open the crossing.

Security checkpoints on roads and the surrounding towns are searching for wanted persons by HTS and those who participated in demonstrations against them, and violating the privacy of civilians by searching mobile phones and computers.

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that the security forces of Tahrir Al-Sham arrested two preachers of mosques in the city of Harem, for criticizing the acts of HTS towards civilians while trying to open a commercial crossing with the regime. Meanwhile, third preacher of a mosque was arrested for criticizing the arrest of the first two.
