Back-and-forth battles | Regime forces recapture al-Manara from jihadists, and death toll among warring sides rises to 61 in less than 24 hours

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that regime forces were able to recapture of the village of Tanjara (Al-Manara), in Sahl Al-Ghab in north-western countryside of Hama, 24 hours after they lost the village to “Hurras al-Din organization” and other jihadi groups.

The takeover was backed by intensive firepower with dozens of rocket-propelled grenades. Regime forces were able to recapture the village at midnight after several failed attempts.

SOHR activists have documented a spike in the death toll among both  parties of the conflict due to the intensive shelling and fierce clashes. The death toll of regime soldiers and loyal militiamen has risen to 37, while the number of fatalities among jihadi groups jumped to 24. However, this death toll is expected to rise, as many injured are in serious conditions.

On the other hand, the Syrian Observatory  has monitored this morning rocket attacks by regime forces on areas in Al-Mashik, Al-Mansoura and Al-Ankawi in Sahl Al-Ghab, north-west of Hama, Al-Halouba, Kafr Aweid and Kansafra in Jabal al-Zawiya, as the ceasefire enters its 67th day.
