ISIS resurgence | Landmine explodes killing National Defense member in Al-Mayadeen

SOHR sources say that a landmine exploded in the area of Fayda Ibn Mouin’ea in al-Mayadeen desert, east of Deir ez-Zor, killing a member of regime-backed the National Defense.

Syrian Desert region has seen an increase in ISIS cells’ activity, and is a common site of attacks on regime forces and loyalists.

The death toll since late March 24 to date has risen. The Syrian Observatory has documented the death of at least 521 members of regime forces and loyalists of Syrian and non-Syrian citizens, including at least two Russians.

In addition to 127 members of Iranian-backed militias of non-Syrian citizens, all were killed in ISIS attacks, IEDs and ambushes in the western Euphrates, and the desert of Deir ez-Zor, Homs and Sweida.

SOHR also confirmed the death of four civilians working in the gas fields as a result of the group’s attacks, and two shepherds were killed in the group’s attacks,

The Syrian Observatory also documented the death of 182 members of Islamic State, during the same period, in attacks, bombings and targets.
