Security chaos in areas held by HTS | Armed robberies and kidnappings continue in Idlib and countryside

The city of Idlib and all areas under the control of Hayaat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) are witnessing a security chaos such as kidnappings, thefts and armed robberies, where an armed group. This morning, an armed group robbed shops in Atma camp area, north of Idlib.

There were also four cases of car theft, houses and a number of motorcycles in different areas during the day, 

Moreover, unidentified persons kidnapped this morning a jeweler working in Idlib, as part of continuing kidnappings in the areas controlled by HTS and the factions.

On the other hand, locals complain that the Islamic police of the “Salvation Government” has mismanaged the security situation in areas under its control.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, police in the city of Harem and countryside imposed a sum of 3,000 Syrian pounds on each shop and house for protection and security.

On May 7, SOHR sources reported that unknown persons kidnapped a civilian from the city of Salqin in rural Idlib, demanding his parents pay a large ransom, after sending a video tape, a copy of which was obtained by SOHR, showing the kidnappers cutting off his finger and brutally torturing him.

Meanwhile, a civilian from the village of Al-Ya’qubiya in rural Idlib was kidnaped, without knowing the reasons and motives of kidnapping.

Security chaos escalates in areas under the control of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions in Idlib province and surrounding countryside, with the proliferation of kidnapping and extortion gangs for ransom.
