“De-escalation zone” | Russian and Turkish jets fly over the area, following the killing of Turkish soldier west of Idlib

SOHR sources say that a Turkish soldier died of his injuries sustained in an explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) on the Aleppo-Latakia road, west of Jisr al-Shughour.

This afternoon, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored an intensive flight of Russian jets, coinciding with the flight of a Turkish aircraft near the border with the Iskenderun region.

Meanwhile, reconnaissance drones were seen flying over the western Idlib countryside and Jabal al-Zawiya.

Syrian Observatory activists reported earlier hearing a loud explosion near Aleppo-Latakia international highway (M4) in Al-Ghassaniyyah area in rural Jisr Al-Shughur. The explosion was caused by targeting Turkish military vehicles with IEDs. The convoy was escorted with other vehicles affiliated to opposition factions.
