Hezbollah leader warns Israel of ‘great war’ on all fronts

Hassan Nasrallah threatened that IDF strikes similar to 2006 war would be the ‘end of Israel’

Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s Secretary-General has marked the 20th anniversary of Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon with a warning of a “great war,” that will simultaneously open on several fronts.

While claiming that such a war would be “the end of Israel,” the leader of the Shi’ite terrorist group stressed that there are “no indications that Israel intends to launch a war against Lebanon,” according to a report in The Jerusalem Post.

Nasrallah made the statements during an interview with the Al-Nour (“The Light”) Radio station, in which he also boasted that the Iranian proxy now has capabilities that it didn’t possess when Israel and Hezbollah faced off against each other in the 34-day 2006 Second Lebanon War.

Making reference to a recent incident along the Lebanon-Syria border, where the IDF carried out a non-lethal airstrike, Nasrallah’s interpretation was that Israel was concerned about Hezbollah’s response if the occupants of the vehicle had been killed.

Widening out the scope of his comments, the terrorist leader also provided his perspective on Israel’s airstrikes against Iranian and Hezbollah targets within Syria. While the IDF has previously claimed to have carried out more than 200 airstrikes on convoys of materiel and other strategic targets, it most often refuses to comment on speculation. Of these strikes, Nasrallah said that although Syria does not want to be drawn into a war with Israel, there are limits to its patience.

Israel’s warplanes after often spotted in the skies above Lebanon, with claims that they have carried out airstrikes from Lebanese airspace.

Nasrallah also touched on the internal divisions that have riven their Lebanese hosts. The country is in a parlous financial situation, with the Hezbollah leader urging that corruption be addressed.
Whilst Hezbollah has much sway in all affairs in Lebanon, the country will continue to head South until all foreign direct investment dries up. Hezbollah has a thriving business in drugs from Bekaa Valley. Also funding from their supporters in Iran, Europe and South America. Now that certain EU countries are under the microscope, funding will become more difficult.
