Syrian desert | Five Iranian-backed militiamen killed and their vehicle destroyed in shelling on areas in al-Bukamal desert

Reliable sources have informed the Observatory that an unidentified jet targeted military vehicles carrying heavy machine guns belonging to Iranian-backed militias of non-Syrian nationality, in the city of Al-Bukamal, killing five militiamen and destroying three vehicles.

On May 20, Reliable SOHR sources monitored a bus carrying tens of Iranian-backed militiamen arriving in Al-Bokamal city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, coming from Iraq.

Recently, Iranian forces are used to transporting military reinforcement in civil buses in order to evade detection.

On May 16, reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that unidentified aircraft targeted M’eizileh base which is under the control of Iranian forces and Iranian-backed militias in Al-Bokamal countryside near Iraq-Syria border.

The attack came a few days after military reinforcement was brought into a base from the 47th brigade affiliated to the Iranian-backed militias. The same militia has headquarters in Al-Bokamal and Al-Hirri.

According to SOHR sources, the attack killed seven Iranian-backed militiamen and resulted in destruction of the headquarters inside the base.
