Afrin | Turkish intelligence meets with dignitaries, vowing to put an end to factions’ violations against indigenous people

Reliable sources have told SOHR that Turkish intelligence has summoned dignitaries from Afrin canton and talked to them. According to SOHR sources, the Turkish spokesperson indicated  that Turkey accommodates tens of millions of civilian Kurds and there is no animosity towards them or the Syrian Kurds, particularly the Kurds of Afrin.

The spokesperson  also referred to the issue of  violations in Afrin, asserting that Turkey had nothing to do with such violations, and was  seeking to put an end to the practices of factions that wreaked havoc in the area.

For their part, Afrin’s dignitaries emphasized the need to establish security, stop the factions’ violations against civilians, and put an end to the looting of olive harvest. The dignitaries said “the factions loot everything, including trees and civilians’ properties, so we demand  an end to such violations.”

At the end of the meeting,  Turkish intelligence promised the dignitaries to put an end to these increasing violations committed by Turkish-backed factions in Afrin city and countryside in north-western Aleppo, including thefts, kidnappings, the imposition of levies, looting properties and crops, and clamping down on people  refusing to leave their areas.
