“De-escalation zone” | Fierce clashes erupt between opposition factions and regime forces in southern Idlib

Regime forces and loyalists launched a fierce attack in the early hours of Saturday morning on the area of Fulayfel and Al-Salihiyah in the southern sector of Idlib countryside. Regime attack was followed by fierce clashes with rebels and jihadists. The clashes, which were accompanied by shelling and exchange of fire, lasted until today’s dawn leaving casualties in the ranks of both sides.

On the other hand, regime forces renewed rocket attacks, targeting several areas in Jabal Al-Zawiyah in southern Idlib, and Sahl Al-Ghab in the north-western countryside of Hama.

Yesterday, SOHR sources monitored the flight of Turkish helicopters over the Syrian border with Iskenderun region, along with evacuating the two Turkish soldiers to Turkish hospitals via Bab al-Hawa border crossing, after one was killed and the other was injured.

This development followed an assassination which targeted the two Turkish soldiers, as unidentified gunmen opened fire on them on the road between Idlib and Sarmin cities near the Turkish observation post in the area.
