Lack food oversight | Dozens of people suffer from food poisoning in Al-Bab city

SOHR sources say that dozens of people got food poisoning in the Turkish-held city of Al-Bab, north-east of Aleppo, after eating rotten food from a restaurant in the city.

The cases of food poisoning appeared on Wednesday, July 29. More than 100 people were taken to hospitals.

Authorities in the city had closed the restaurant and started investigations into the source of the rotten food.

The areas under the control of Turkish-backed factions and HTS are experiencing a complete lack of control over markets and food, and widespread rotten and expired foodstuffs with unknown source. 

On July 6, reliable SOHR sources documented tens of cases of food poisoning in Al-Rayyan refugee camp which accommodates displaced people from different Syrian areas in Harbanoush town, north of Idlib. According to SOHR sources, nearly 50 civilians of Al-Rayyan camp’s inhabitants were taken to field clinics for suffering from food poisoning, after having “off” meals provided by “charities and aid organizations”.
