First aerial operation in 17 months | Turkish jet strikes positions near contested areas between SDF and Turkish-backed factions in northern Al-Raqqah

Al-Raqqah Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have reported hearing loud explosion in Ain Issa area in northern Al-Raqqah, caused by airstrikes by a Turkish fighter jet on Sayda village on the frontlines between Syria Democratic Forces and Turkish-backed factions. No further details have been reported yet about the number of casualties and material damage caused by the airstrikes.

 

It is worth noting that these airstrikes are the first of their kind in the past 17 months.

 

On the other hand, clashes with medium and heavy weapons are still underway between SDF and Turkish-backed factions on Sayda and Mu’allaq frontlines in eastern Ain Issa.

 

SOHR sources reported earlier this morning violent clashes on frontlines of Ain Issa district, the capital of the Autonomous Administration in the northern countryside of Al-Raqqah province, between Turkish forces and their proxy factions on one hand and Syria Democratic Forces on the other, from the flank of Mu’allaq town on the western part of Ain Issa. The clashes, which were accompanied by intensive rocket fire, came as a part of an attempt by Turkish forces and their proxies to advance towards the highway linking Ain Issa to Ain Al-Arab (Kobani). Also, confirmed casualties were reported.
