After one year of clashes in which hundreds of fighters were killed… New clashes erupt in the Eastern Ghouta and more than 40 have been killed and injured so far

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned from reliable sources that violent clashes are taking place in the Eastern Ghouta in Rif Dimashq, after the outbreak of a new fight between the major factions operating in it, and the activists of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights in the area observed Jaysh al-Islam’s start attacking headquarters of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and Rahman Corps, in the areas of Arbin, KafrBatna, Ash’ari, Mdira and Hazza.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has also learned that the violent clashes are still taking place between fighters of Jaysh al-Islam against Rahman Corps and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, accompanied by bringing heavy vehicles, armored vehicles and tanks by Jaysh al-Islam and involving them in the attack, where these clashes have killed and wounded about 40 fighters of both parties, at least 8 fighters of them were confirmed dead.

Local sources also confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that Jaysh al-Islam issued calls to the fighters of Rahman Corps and Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham asking them to surrender themselves for “saving the blood”, Jaysh al-Islam also asked residents in and around the Eastern Ghouta and clashing areas to stay in their houses and get down to basements.

This renewed clashes between the major factions of the Eastern Ghouta comes after one year of clashes between Jaysh al-Islam against the Rahman Corps and Jaysh al-Fustat, of which al-Nusra front (Al-Qaeda organization in the Levant) forms its backbone, which broke out in late April and during of which more than 500 fighters of both parties were killed, in addition to capturing hundreds of prisoners and injuries others in their ranks, as well as the deaths of about 10 civilians, including 4 children and women, and the only gynecologist in the Eastern Ghouta.
