Coalition warplanes target again areas in Al-Raqqah city causing more human losses after the water wells massacre

Al-Raqqah Province, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: Violent explosions shook areas in Al-Raqqah city, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights learned from several reliable sources that they were caused by bombing by the International Coalition warplanes on areas in al-Tawassoiya neighbourhood north of Al-Raqqah city, which caused more casualties and wounded, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published hours ago that the International Coalition warplanes have committed a new massacre in Al-Raqqah city, a massacre added to the series of massacres it has carried out in the city since the 6th of June 2017, which is the date of start of the grand battle of Al-Raqqah, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: 18 civilians including children and female citizens were killed as a result of airstrikes by Coalition warplanes which targeted water wells at the outskirts of al-Tawassoiya area north of the city, during a gathering of civilians to fill water, where the city has been witnessing since the beginning of September 2017 a great decrease of potable water supply, where the water was cut because of the bombing and destruction of infrastructure in the city, as a result of military operations, heavy bombing by warplanes, shelling by the forces of “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces, detonating booby trapped vehicles and explosion of mines planted by the organization earlier in the city.

These airstrikes on the wells located in the northern section of Al-Raqqah city, are targeting areas that still has not been controlled by the Syria Democratic Forces supported by the US Special Forces, despite the withdrawal of the “Islamic State” organization of these areas about two weeks ago, where the sweep operations continue in the city remove the mines and dismantle them. Cross-sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights that the “Islamic State” organization which hides in the city center and in tunnels and hideouts with an area does not exceed 2% of Al-Raqqah city, some of its members may have infiltrated -if any- to areas that still out of control of the “Euphrates Wrath” Operation Forces, and positioned as snipers in these areas, also the announcement by the forces of the International Coalition and the forces of the “Euphrates Wrath” was delayed because they have not completed the sweep operation in the city as a result of the intensity of mines planted by the organization.

Also, reliable sources confirmed to the Syrian Observatory that the International Coalition is aware that members of the organization have positioned in Al-Raqqah city, but despite that Al-Raqqah city has witnessed intense airstrikes by Coalition warplanes in the past few days, and left tens of civilian casualties and wounded in the city, which has witnessed fierce clash and shelling of thousands of raids and missiles and tens of explosions, causing a large number of casualties in the ranks of Syria Democratic Forces supported by the US Special Forces and the “Islamic State” organization.
