More human losses raise to 25, the number of casualties in the ranks of the regime forces and their allies as a result of the violent attack by ISIS on Al-Mayadin city

Deir Ezzor Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: the area of Al-Mayadin is witnessing fortifications by the regime forces and their allies of militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities to their positions in Al-Mayadin city and its vicinity, after they subjected to a violent attack in the past 48 hours, which is the largest one since the organization lost the city, and these fortifications by the regime forces for their defensive positions, are coincided with similar operations in other areas, amid increasing the number of casualties of the regime forces who were killed by ISIS in its attack on Al-Mayadin, where it has increased to at least 25, the number of casualties documented by the SOHR of the members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities, and reliable sources confirmed to the SOHR, that a delay of involving the warplanes to support the regime, was noticed during the attack.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published yesterday that the “Islamic State” Organization carried out a violent attack on al-Mayadin Desert in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor at the west bank of Euphrates River, and in the details obtained by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: groups of the Organization carried out a violent attack in which they were able to reach the outskirts of al-Mayadin city, which used to be “the capital of al-Khair State” when it used to control it, where violent clashes took place between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against members of the Organization, which killed more than 18 members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, while 13 of members at least were killed of ISIS as a result of the intense shelling by the regime forces and warplanes, which carried out intense raids targeting the sites where the organization attacked and other sites which ISIS members controlled, and this attack is the most violent one since the control of the regime forces and their allies of the city months ago, and after the recovery of the “Islamic State” Organization, where the Syrian Observatory published on the 14th of April that the sound of explosions was heard again in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored explosions in Al-Mayadin Desert in the west of Euphrates River, as a result of shelling by the “Islamic State” organization, as well as the violent clashes between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syrian nationalities against ISIS in areas in the desert of the city, which used to be the capital of “al-Khair State”, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights published on the 13th of the same month, that it monitored an attack by the organization on positions of the SDF, in Hajin area and Sha’afah desert in the east of the Euphrates River, in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, and information about human losses in the ranks of the both parties, while the clashes are continuing between the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them against members of the “Islamic State” organization, in the vicinity of Al-Mayadin city and its desert, in an attempt by the organization to achieve a control and inflict the greatest possible human losses in the ranks of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them of Syrian and non-Syria nationalities, amid exchange of targeting and intense shelling on the clash areas between both parties, and confirmed information about casualties in the ranks of both parties, while the Syrian Observatory monitoring few days ago that a group of organizations being able to besiege a group of the regime forces and militiamen Loyal to them in al-Mayadin desert, until the support arrived to the besieged group and broke the siege of the organization.

 

Thus, it has increased to 267 at least, the number of members of the regime and their allies who were killed during 30 days of clashes in al-Bokamal, the countryside of Deir Ezzor and south of the capital Damascus, also it rose to 103 at least, the number of members of the “Islamic State” organization who were killed in the same battles, since the recovery of the Organization in the 13th of March 2018, also tens of others of both parties were killed and the death toll is expected to rise because there are some people in critical situation, in addition to the presence of missing members and captives in the ranks of the both parties, while it is noteworthy that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has been monitoring since the 13th of March 2018, the start of attacks by the “Islamic State” Organization, which were started by an attack in the capital Damascus, and enabled it to expand in al-Kadam neighbourhood in the southern part of the capital, followed by attacks targeted the 2nd Station, which was also controlled by the Organization south of al-Bokamal, and other attacks in Hmimeh area and al-Mayadin Desert, amid targeting sites of the regime forces and their allies west of Euphrates river in the eastern and southeastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, also these successive attacks have caused significant casualties in the ranks of members of the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them, and as well as the ranks of members of the “Islamic State” Organization, also this violent attack of ISIS comes weeks after the control of the organization declined in the eastern banks of the Euphrates River, within the towns of Abu Al-Hassan, al-Sha’afa, Al-Baghouz, Al-Bobdara, and its districts, following the entire end of its presence in the western banks of the Euphrates River, where the SDF managed to control most of the east of the Euphrates except for the aforementioned enclave, where reliable sources confirmed to the SOHR that the organization organized its ranks in the recent stage in order to attempt to expand the organization’s controlled areas at the expense of its rivals in its areas of presence, and the SOHR published few months ago, that although the presence of the organization in the west of the Euphrates River ended on the 6th of December 2017, groups of its fighters meant to confuse the regime and its allies, by carrying out infiltrations and surprising attacks, within Deir Ezzor desert and the vicinity of Hmimeh area in the far of the north-eastern countryside of Homs, in conjunction with the attacks on areas in the eastern desert of Al-Sukhnah and attacks in other areas near the presence of the members of the organization who carry out these attacks in order to emphasize the strength of the organization and express its ability to carry out attacks and initiate them, and to result in the fall of the largest possible number of human losses in the ranks of the regime forces and their allies of non-Syrian nationalities.
