24 hours after they were expelled, regime forces control large parts of Saraqib and the fate of tens of trapped fighters is unknown

The regime forces took over Saraqib city, about 24 hours after being expelled from it by the factions.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the regime forces this evening restoring control of the southern, western, and eastern neighborhoods of the city, they also started sweeping what is left of the city.

According to what the Syrian Observatory has monitored, the regime forces were able to storm the eastern and western parts of the city after the fall of its southern part, thus, the regime forces controlled large parts of the city.

The Syrian Observatory did not document any clashes during regime forces’ entry into the city.

The fate of those who are still inside the city is unknown, also the fate of tens of fighters trapped inside the city is still unknown.

The Syrian Observatory learned that some fighters managed to get out through agricultural paths and roads, where the regime besieged the city after controlling areas north of it.

Thus, Saraqib becomes the second city after Maarrat al-Nu’man controlled by the regime since the start of the military operation on the 24th of January 2020.
