Regime security services unleash security crackdown in northern Homs countryside, arresting 55 people of “settled-status”

Homs Governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

Reliable source have informed SOHR that tension continued in northern countryside of Homs in light of the security campaign carried out by regime and its security services.

During the past 48 hours, regime security forces carried out intensive security raids on Al-Houla, Tal Thahab, Kafr Laha, Talbiseh and other areas north of Homs, arresting more than 55 civilians and former fighters of opposition factions who settled their situation with the regime.

The raids were accompanied by heavy gunfire and regime forces were on heightened alert and strengthened their checkpoints and set up temporary checkpoints in those areas.

On The 8th of last month, SOHR reported that unknown gunmen assassinated one of the most prominent figures in Talbiseh city in the northern countryside of Homs known by his initials as S.W. who mediated reconciliation deals between opposition fighters and the Syrian regime. It is noteworthy that he has strong ties with the Iranians, and informed regime forces previously the whereabouts of weapons and ammunition depots that the factions left behind after leaving Talbiseh city following international agreements. In addition, he distributed in extraditing many young people who refused to struck reconciliation and settlement deals with the Syrian regime.
