Regime forces shell rural Hama and Latakia as tense calm continues in “Putin-Erdogan” area

Activists have told SOHR that regime forces shelled with heavy artillery the frontlines of Al-Sermaniyah village in north-western countryside of Hama and areas within the administrative border in Latakia province near Kabana. No casualties have been reported.

Meanwhile, tense calm prevails throughout the area of “Putin-Erdogan” during the ninth day of the new ceasefire. The calm has been interspersed with rocket fire carried out by opposition factions in countryside of Latakia, targeting the perimeter of Qardaha, the hometown of the head of Syrian regime.

On the other hand, air defenses in Latakia countryside intercepted unknown targets. It is not known whether they were drones or intercepting missiles that fell around the Russian base of “Hmeimim.”

SOHR sources added that sporadic exchanging fire with medium-range machine guns took place between regime forces and opposition factions on Saraqeb frontline, east of Idlib on Saturday morning.

While Russian and regime aerial operations are still suspended in the “de-escalation zone” since the new ceasefire came into effect.
