Ankara-backed factions continue their violations, arresting eight persons in Afrin and countryside

Aleppo Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

Turkish-backed factions, operating in Afrin and countryside in north-west Aleppo, continue their arbitrary arrests against the area’s residents who have refused to be displaced, as part of the ongoing violations against them.

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that Ankara-backed factions arrested and kidnapped eight civilians in Bulbul and Ma’abatli districts of rural Afrin and the industrial zone of Afrin city, on charges and various pretexts such as “communicating with Kurdish units and fighting in its ranks”. The kidnapped were taken to unknown destination.

On the 20th of this month, SOHR sources reported that fighters of Turkish-backed factions cut down a large number of trees in Al-Mahmoudiyah neighborhood in Afrin city center, along with cutting down more trees in different areas in Afrin countryside.

On the other hand, “Al-Jabha al-Shamiyyah” and “Al-Hamzat” factions, which are deployed in Afrin city and countryside, continue selling houses to people who have been displaced to Afrin for $2,000 up to $6,000. These houses are owned by people of Afrin who have been forced to displace due to earlier military operations and Turkey and its proxies’ systematic policy of clamping down on the Kurds to force them to leave their areas.
