Employees of the “Iranian Cultural Center” and NDF members engage in hand-to-hand fight in Al-Mayadeen, and IRGC threaten regime-backed militiamen of killing

Reliable SOHR sources in Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor have confirmed that employees of the “Iranian Cultural Center” and members of the regime-backed “National Defence Forces” (NDF) engaged in hand-to-hand fight.

According to SOHR sources, the fight took place yesterday evening, as the employees of the “Iranian Cultural Center” were preparing for holding a “religious recital” near the headquarters of NDF at Al-Baladiyah square in Al-Mayadeen. NDF militiamen came later and forced the employees to stop the preparations and dismissed them from the place where the recital was intended to be held.

After this incident, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian-backed militia of “Fatemiyoun” brought in a large number of their members stationed in Al-Mayadeen desert and headed to NDF headquarters where they cordoned off the headquarters and encircled it with heavy gears and several militiamen.

The Iranians opened fire on the headquarters, which pushed the NDF commander to interfere and apologized to IRGC and the employees of the “Iranian Cultural Center”. The NDF commander also vowed to hold the members who attacked the Iranian center’s employees accountable, after IRGC threatened to kill NDF members if such attack repeated.
