Al-Hasakeh | Customs officials kill civilian transporting fuel in countryside

SOHR sources say that members of SDF’s custom forces opened fire on a young man from the village of Al-Wawiya, south of Tal Hamis, killing him instantly.

According to Observatory sources, the young man, who was transporting fuel on his motorcycle, was shot dead by customs while trying to escape, after being noticed by a patrol near the town of Tal Hamis in Al-Hasakeh countryside.

SOHR activists reported earlier that the Manbij Military Council forces had arrested some 20 members of the “Self-Defense” of the Military Council, as they were involved in smuggling from the Manbij area in eastern Aleppo to regime-controlled areas.

On August 4, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored an increase in diesel smuggling operations to the “Peace Spring” areas, which are under the control of Turkish-backed factions, due to the large difference in fuel prices between the SDF-held areas and the areas held by Turkish-backed factions.
