Protesting non-payment of their salaries for six months | “Civil Defense” employees demonstrate in Al-Busayrah city

SOHR eyewitnesses say that dozens of “Civil Defense” employees held a vigil this afternoon in front of the People’s Assembly in Al-Busayrah city in Deir ez-Zor countryside, demanding the payment of their salaries, which have been suspended for six months, and the accountability of the corrupt officials.

They also demanded the dismissal of the military cadres supervising the the councils and all departments in the “Self-Administration”.

The demonstrators chanted slogans calling for the toppling of the joint chairman of the executive council of the “Self-Administration”, and threatened to continue their demonstrations if their salaries were not paid.

On August 4, Syrian Observatory activists monitored demonstrations in Al-Shuhayl and Theban towns and Al-Hawayij village, which are under the control of SDF in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

The demonstrators demanded “International Coalition” disclose the identity of the murderers of “Sheikh Matshar Hammoud Al-Hafl”, the uncle of “Ekaydat” tribe’s elder, who was killed on Sunday. The demonstrators also blocked the roads and set rubber tires on fire.

According to SOHR sources, SDF traded fire with gunmen who were among the demonstrators in Al-Hawayij village, which resulted in injured many people on both sides.
