New assassination | Unidentified gunmen assassinate member of Russian-backed 5th Corps in eastern Daraa countryside

Daraa governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that unidentified gunmen assassinated this morning a member of the Fifth Corps established by Russia, by shooting him in the town of Sayda in eastern countryside of Daraa.

Yesterday, reliable sources told SOHR that five members of the regime-backed 5th Division were found beheaded, after being disarmed, in a house near their checkpoint on the road between Al-Msifrah and Al-Sahwah in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

After the incident, a large number of regime troops were seen in the area, while the perpetrators have not known so far.

This brings the number of attacks and assassination attempts in various forms and methods by detonating IEDs, mines, booby-trapped vehicles and shootings from last June to date, to more than 667 attacks.

While the number of those who killed and died in the same period has risen to 447 persons, 122 of whom are civilians, including 12 women and 15 children, in addition to 199 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services.

78 members of opposition factions were also killed, those who made “settlements and reconciliations” with the regime and became members of regime security services, including former leaders, and 23 members of Syrian militias affiliated to Lebanese “Hezbollah” and Iranian forces, in addition to 22 members of so-called “Fifth Corps”.
