Security crackdown in rural Al-Raqqa | SDF arrests over 15 people, and imposes curfew in countryside

SOHR sources say that SDF launched a security campaign, this morning, to arrest wanted persons in al-Karama area in al-Raqqah eastern countryside, coinciding with the ongoing imposition of curfew, and the closure of schools and public institutions in the area.

In the meantime, SDF has arrested more than 15 people. It is not yet known if they are ISIS cells or civilians from the area.

Yesterday, SOHR sources said that Syrian Democratic Forces stormed Al-Shuhayl town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor in the early hours of Wednesday. The security forces arrested four persons and confiscated weapons (a gun and AK rifle) in their possession.

SOHR sources reported earlier this morning that two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle shot dead a young civilian working at a garage in Al-Basat area on the outskirts of Al-Busayrah city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

This assassination came a few days after individuals asked the young man to pay the “zakat dues” of an estimated 10,000 USD. The young man’s family held the individuals who asked him to pay money, but they released these individuals after being threatened.

After the assassination, a security group of Syria Democratic Forces stormed a house in Abriha town, arresting four people affiliated to ISIS cells, believed to be the perpetrators of this assassination.
