Since early 2020 | Self-Administration handed over 125 children and four foreign women of ISIS families to representatives of their countries

Since the beginning of 2020, the Self-Administration of the northern and eastern regions of Syria has handed over 125 children and four women of non-Syrian nationalities to representatives of their countries.

 

According to SOHR statistics and sources, all children and women are of Islamic State families in the al-Hawl camp in the far south-east of al-Hasaka, whose fathers and spouses were fighters in the ranks of ISIS,who have either been killed in previous battles or gone missing.

 

Here is list of dates, number of people handed over, and their nationalities:

 

  • On 14 January, the Self-Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations handed over two children and a woman of Norwegian nationality to representatives of their state at the Department’s headquarters in al-Qamishli.

 

  • On January 22, the Self-Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations handed over two women and a child of Iraqi nationalities to the Kurdistan Regional Presidency Office.

 

  • On September 8, the Self-Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations handed over 15 children of Russian nationality to a Russian delegation of the Office of the Russian Federation for the Rights of the Child at the department’s headquarters in Hasakeh.

 

  • On September 15, the Self-Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations handed over a child of British nationality to the British special envoy for Syria at the department’s headquarters in Hasakeh.

 

  • On October 4, the Self-Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations handed over a child of Canadian nationality to the Canadian Special coordinator for Syria at the department’s headquarters in Hasakeh.

 

  • On October 14, the Self-Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations handed over 27 children of Russian nationality to a Russian delegation from the Office of the Russian Federation for the Rights of the Child at the department’s headquarters in Hasakeh.

 

  • On October 25, the Self-Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations handed over three children and a woman of Albanian nationality to the Albanian ambassador to Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.

 

  • On November 14, the Self-Administration’s Department of Foreign Relations handed over 30 children of Russian nationality to a Russian delegation of the President of the Russian Federation for the Rights of the Child at the department’s headquarters in Hasakeh.
