Violations in Ras Al-Ain | Turkish-backed factions steal collections of church and seize more farmlands

Turkish-backed militiamen have stolen the collections of the Syriac Orthodox Church of “Mar Tuma” (Saint Thomas) in Al-Kana’es neighbourhood in “Peace Spring” areas in rural Al-Hasakah.

According to local sources, the stolen collections included metal and copper objects and electronic devices.

Meanwhile, the Turkish-backed militiamen claimed that the church’s collections have been stolen by local thieves.

On the other hand, the factions have seized more farmlands in “Peace Spring” areas, with the help of villages’ headmen, and prevented the owners of farmlands near the frontlines with SDF from cultivating their land or getting close to them. Moreover, the factions are still looting the remaining agriculture equipment and machines there.

SOHR sources had said that the Ankara-backed “al-Hamzaat Division” seized agricultural land owned by tens of families with an area of 500 hectare in Ras al-Ain countryside in “Peace Spring” areas in Al-Hasakah countryside.

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the villages captured by al-Hamzaat Division are the following: “Qatina, Al-Hardana, Al-Dawiri, Masajid and Tal al-Barm”, in the south and south-west of Ras al-Ain town (Sere Kaniye) in Al-Hasakah countryside. It is worth noting that Al-Hamzaat Division cultivates civilian land and steals its production, preventing farmers from returning to their villages and farms under the pretext of “dealing” with the SDF and the Self-Administration.
