Ras al-Ain | Women of Ekaydat still detained by military police, and fighters from Al-Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor prepare for new offensive

SOHR activists say that the city of Ras al-Ain (Sere Kanier) is witnessing a continuing tension between Turkish-backed factions and military police, as military police continues detaining women in the city since yesterday evening. Meanwhile, the mediation did not work out so far, as the military police refused to release them, while factions including fighters from Deir ez-Zor and Al-Hasaka are mobilizing to attack the military police in order to release the women from the “Akidat” clan.

Yesterday, reliable sources informed SOHR that the Turkish-backed military police have been still detaining women of Al-Ekaydat tribe in Ras Al-Ain city (Sere Kaniye) in rural Al-Hasakah since yesterday. The women were not released despite mediations by tribal dignitaries and elders.

Meanwhile, the 2nd Corps’ command have amassed their troops, along with ongoing alertness of fighters from Deir Ezzor and Al-Raqqah in order to attack military police’s headquarters, amid growing tension throughout Ras Al-Ain city.

Yesterday, Observatory activists monitored members of the 20th Division and other individuals from Deir Ezzor and Al-Raqqah being put on high alert, in the wake of the arrest of several women of Ekaydat tribe, who came from SDF-held areas to visit their relatives in Ras Al-Ain district.

According to SOHR sources, a group of Turkish-backed militiamen are preparing to storm the military police’s headquarters in Ras Al-Ain.
