Al-Hasakeh | “Hasakeh Military Council” hands over three children of SDF ranks to their parents

SOHR activists say that the office of “Child Protection” in coordination with the Office of Relations of the Military Council of Hasaka, handed over three children to their parents, who were fighters in the ranks of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

According to Syrian Observatory sources, the children who were handed over to their parents aged 14, 15 and 16. This comes after the establishment of the office of “Child Protection” in the SDF-held areas and the signing of the Geneva Convention.

On November 22, SOHR sources said that the so-called “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriya” continued to rob children of their childhood, while kidnapping and recruiting children to serve its own interests, ignoring all child protection laws, despite continued demands to stop child recruitment altogether.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights continues to highlight these operations, particularly with appeals of the affected children’s families to reveal the fate of their children and to bring them back immediately.

SOHR sources said that the “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriya” are trying to improve its image following the intense media pressure, by forcing children to talk to their parents and tell them that they are okay, while asking their parents to not talk to the media because “it will not help”.

The Syrian Observatory has monitored two new incidents of child recruitment, where the “Al-Shabiba Al-Thawriya” kidnapped a little girl under the age of 14 from Amuda in Hasakeh countryside, known by her initials as (B.K.). The girl was kidnapped in front of her house on November 17, 2011.

The second incident was the kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl, known by her initials as (R.A.), from Ras al-Ain (Sere Kanier) to Derbasiya two weeks ago. However, the relatives’ attempts with all military factions in SDF-held and the Self-Administration to bring the child back were unsuccessful.
