Daraa countryside | Regime officer dies of injuries sustained in attack by gunmen on military vehicle

Daraa governorate – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that a regime officer was killed, as a result of his injuries sustained in an attack on a military vehicle in al-Jadira area near al-Harra town in Daraa countryside.

Yesterday, SOHR activists said that regime forces were put on high alert in the city of Al-Hara, north of Daraa province, after a shooting attack on their checkpoints around the town on December 28.

Since the beginning of the security chaos in Daraa in early June 2019, Syrian Observatory activists have documented more than 822 attacks and assassination attempts by gunfire and detonations of IEDs, motorcycle-bombs and car-bombs. These attacks and assassinations claimed the lives of 535 persons, categorised as follows:

  • 151 civilians, including 12 women and 16 children
  • 238 regime soldiers, loyalists and collaborators with regime security services
  • 104 fighters of factions that struck “reconciliation and settlements” deals with the regime and became in the ranks of regime’s security branches, including former commanders
  • 23 Syrian militiamen affiliated to the Lebanese Hezbollah and Iranian forces
  • 24 members of the so-called 5th Corps which was established by Russia.
