ISIS resurgence | Uncertainty surrounds the fate of regime soldiers went missing near Safian oil field in Al-Raqqah countryside

Al-Raqqah Province- Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that the fate of regime soldiers is still unknown, as burned pick-up truck was found near the Safian oil field controlled by regime forces, south of Al-Tabqa in western countryside of Raqqa, since Monday.

Observatory sources suggested that regime soldiers were kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination after their car was burned.

This comes in light of the group’s activities after targeting a military vehicle in the same area about 48 hours ago.

On January 10, reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that an IED exploded in a military vehicle carrying regime soldiers, while passing near Safyan oil field in the western countryside of Al-Raqqah, which injured two soldiers seriously.

SOHR sources reported that ISIS noticeably stepped up its operations in the Syrian desert Since the beginning of 2021, including ambushes, attacks and explosions, inflicting great losses on the ranks of regime forces and loyal militias. It seems that the Islamic State has no intention of capturing posts and positions, but it wanted to send a massage to regime forces and allies that it is still alive and kicking.
