After Lebanese channel Al-Jadeed accused him of possessing shipment of ammonium nitrate at Beirut’s port | Syrian businessman George Haswani comes to the fore again after assassination attempt on his son in Yabroud

The name of Syrian businessman George Haswani, who has strong ties to Russia, comes to the fore again, following an attack on his son Bassel in the area of Yabroud in wester Al-Qalamoun, north of the capital Damascus. Especially in light of the recent report by the Lebanese channel Al-Jadeed, in which the channel accused George Haswani and another Syrian businessman of possessing the shipment of ammonium nitrate, which exploded in the port of Beirut last August, where the shipment was supposed to be transported to Syria for the regime of Bashar al-Assad for manufacturing barrel-bombs for use in its military operations.

Haswani is one of the most prominent businessmen in Syria and is very close to Russia and also holds Russian nationality. America has included his name in the list of sanctions targeting businessmen close to the Syrian regime, after being accused of transferring chemicals to Syria for use by the regime against its people.

In addition, George Haswani is the most prominent middleman of oil deals between the Islamic State and the Syrian regime during ISIS reign.

It is worth noting that George Haswani is the founder of Hesco Engineering and Construction company, which is specializing in oil, phosphate and gas investments, is also one of the most prominent middleman of the “Ma’aloula Sisters” deal in March 2014, as well as other deals, in addition to his contribution to the military supply of pro-regime militias during the military operations in western Al-Qalamoun.

It is also worth noting that Bassel George Haswani, whose car was shot two days ago in Yabroud, is a businessman who runs Al-Massa Oil Production Company, which specializes in oil derivatives trading and construction of oil facilities.
