Turkish shelling on Tel Rifa’at | Civilian dies of injuries sustained, and death toll increases to four, including two children

Aleppo Province- Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has documented the death of a civilian of his wounds sustained yesterday, as a result of Turkish shelling on the city of Tal Rifa’at, which is under the control of Kurdish forces and hosts regime forces and a Russian military base in north-eastern countryside of Aleppo.

This brings the death toll to four: a civilian and two children from Tal Rifa’at and a displaced woman from Afrin.

Syrian Observatory activists have monitored thousands of residents participating in the funeral of the three civilians who were killed yesterday in Turkish rocket fire on the Kurdish-controlled city of Tal Rifa’at, which hosts regime forces and a Russian military airbase.

The residents condemned the Turkish bombardment and the ongoing violations in Afrin.

On the other hand, reliable SOHR sources confirms that the reports circulated on the “Turkish state-run news agency” of the death of seven Kurdish members in the Turkish bombardment on Tal Rifaat are completely untrue. Syrian Observatory sources have confirmed that the three fatalities were two children from Tal Rifaat and a woman who had been displaced from Afrin in the wake of “Olive Branch” operation.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported a rocket attack by Turkish forces and proxy factions stationed in Talaf in Afrin countryside, targeting positions in the Kurdish-controlled city of Tel Rifa’at in the northern Aleppo countryside. The shelling left three civilians dead, and they were as follows: two children from Tel Rifa’at and a woman from Afrin, while at least 11 others were injured. The shelling coincided with the flight of a Turkish drone over the area.

It is worth noting that the city of Tal Rifa’at is a home to more than 22,000 displaced people from Afrin canton, who had been forced to flee from their areas due to the Turkish military operation “Olive Branch”, three years ago.
