For fourth time in 2021 | Russian jets pound Idlib, targeting village south of the city

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored this afternoon, Russian jets executing airstrikes on Idlib province, targeting around the town of Al-Bara in the southern countryside of Idlib, amid ongoing flight by Russian jets over the area.

It is worth noting that this is the fourth round of Russian airstrikes on Idlib in 2021.

On February 13, SOHR activists said that a Russian executed airstrikes using high-explosive missiles, targeting the perimeter of Idlib central prison, west of Idlib city. Meanwhile, a drone was seen flying over the area, but no casualties were reported so far.

On February 3, Syrian Observatory activists confirmed that Russian jets executed several airstrikes using high-explosive missiles on several positions, believed to be military positions, nearby Armanaz town in the western countryside of Idlib, injuring several HTS member. Meanwhile, reconnaissance drones were seen flying over the area.

It is worth noting that this is the second round of Russian airstrikes in two consecutive days, as SOHR sources reported on February 2 that Russian fighter jets executed three airstrikes at least on the north-western countryside of Idlib, targeting military positions in the north-west of Harbanoush village and the surrounding areas of Qurqania village. These airstrikes, which left several rebels injured, were the first Russian aerial operations on the “de-escalation zone” since early December 2020.

On December 7, SOHR activists reported an airstrike by Russian jets on the Sheikh Bahr area in the north-western countryside of Idlib province. No casualties were reported. The Russian raid coincided with the flight of Russian reconnaissance drones over Jabal al-Zawiya, south of Idlib.
